P5’s certifications and sustainable commitments
We have been awarded the international Green Key eco-label – the leading standard for excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation within the tourism and hospitality industry. This means as our guest you help contribute to our environmental work without compromising your experience or convenience.
Green Key* is awarded to accommodation and conference facilities that meet environmental and social sustainability criteria in 13 different areas. Among other things, this means we:
- use renewable electricity, energy-saving lighting and have routines for reducing energy consumption for heating and ventilation.
- have made efforts to reduce water consumption.
- sort and recycle both our own and our guests’ waste.
- uses ecologically certified cleaning products.
As part of the Blå Huset group of companies we participate in and drive a number of social, environmental and business initiatives.
Meals that taste good because they are good
At P5, we believe great food and coffee are important ingredients for a successful event. Our kitchen is Level 2 KRAV certified, which means that at least 50 percent of the raw ingredients we use are KRAV labeled / EU-ecological / MSC labeled products. In addition the kitchen uses fruits and vegetables that might otherwise have been discarded as part of the #svinngott project, which is spearheaded by Gotthards Krog and catering partner Martin & Servera. We also showcase local producers and raw ingredients whenever possible.
In addition we are KRAN certified and have chosen not to work with bottled water. Instead our premises are equipped with taps and glasses so you can help yourself to fresh water from Umeå, with or without carbonation.
There are recycling bins located in all our conference rooms and public areas. By putting the right thing in the right place you actively contribute to our environmental work.
Help us create even more sustainable meetings
At P5 we are constantly looking at how we can improve and develop our business and become even more sustainable. This includes everything from reducing electricity consumption to minimising waste. Please contact us if you have any suggestions on how we can improve your ability to have more sustainable meetings.
* More about Green Key
Green Key is a voluntary international eco-label scheme for visitor and tourist facilities located in over 50 countries around the world. The scheme is operated internationally by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), which is supported by some of the world’s leading environmental and education organisations, such as UNEP, UNESCO and the World Tourism Organisation.
Green Key Sweden operates the scheme nationally and Green Key certification of all facilities is approved and renewed by an independent jury. All facilities are checked with regular audits to ensure ongoing compliance with Green Key’s stringent criteria.
